Ipswich to Chelmsford

We had a lovely evening with my cousin Patrick and his wife Paula. Patrick cooked us a lovely meal and we spent the night chatting and catching up with family news.

So today was a short blast down the A12 to our starting point, Chelmsford.

After unloading at Chris’ we headed off in search of a carwash. After a bit of a search we found one and fed a few coins into the machine. 10 minutes later the bike was transformed.

The bike has been great. I bought it sight unseen and you’re never quite sure but is has performed flawlessly.

We have covered nearly 7000km on this trip and it been a breeze.

I was still feeling pretty average from my stomach upset so put myself to bed for the rest of the afternoon.

It was nice to be reunited with Chris, Karen and the boys when they got home from work/school.

Next morning I was feeling quite a bit better. So sorting up out gear and deciding what stays and what goes. Trial packing of bags. Much easier than on the way here.

We then went into town a little bit of last minute shopping and I wanted to suss out a motorcycle shop for a service and mot next year.

The first shop was closed the next one is closing at Christmas and finally the 3rd one can help me.

Then we had a good night over a few drinks with this very busy family, unwinding after a hectic week.

Today wee had a final pack and at 1pm we walked to the next village Writtal for a pub lunch at the Rose n Crown

Nephew Kieran flew in from Cannes and joined us. Kieran had just attended the Cannes documentary and short film awards where he picked up 3 silver and 2 gold Dolphin awards. Very impressive trophies they are and extremely heavy. It was nice to catch up with him even for a short time. It was soon time for us to depart for the airport.

So that’s a wrap

We hope you have enjoyed reading our blog. It’s nice to have a record of our trip and also to feel a connection with familiar faces when we are away for so long.
