La Puy en Valet to Brantome
Joyeux anniversaire à ma belle femme qui a soixante-neuf ans aujourd'hui.
Even Tomtom got in on the act today and gave Robyn a whole day of smooth tarmac roads.
After fuelling ourselves and the bike we set off in lovely 16 degrees temp. A stunningly beautiful ride today. Lots of parc nationale to ride through and some picture postcard villages and towns.
Some of the roads were a little busy but mostly not too bad. Lots of motorcycles today and the roads are brilliant for it so no surprise there.
I’ll let Robyn’s pics do most of the talking.
We stopped regularly for a break, one cafe stop resulted in a lively conversation between the barman (Otago shirt) a patron (New Zealand Tshirt) and also BMW rider. None of us knew what the other was saying but a good laugh and handshakes all round. Vive la France!
With about 100km to go we spied a layby with lots of trees for shade, we don’t see these very often so made a decent stop of it, got the pick of the trees and stretched out for good rest.
Just as well we did as once we got going we could feel the temp rise and rise. The last 50km became a bit uncomfortable at 36 C.
So a quick check in and a cold shower were the first priorities.
We then went for wander around this ancient place and then stopped for a well earned drink
Back to our hotel for a lovely dinner of steak for Robyn and Duck for me followed by French nougat for Robyn and surprise surprise cheese board por moi.
Over dinner we decided that if we can we will stay here one more night so happy days.

Happy Birthday Mum, well earned desserts there!
