Carcans en Plage

Another tough day. A long walk along the beautiful beach was the first order of the day.

Leisurely breakfast and then we hired bikes and headed 5.km to a nearby lake. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a larger lake so close to the sea. Its massive.

Very popular with water sports like yachting and paddleboarding. There is a little town here with boutique style shops. We had a wander and then a leisurely lunch.

Headed home by bike, I worked off off my lunch by foolishly trying to keep up with the two younger members of our group. Still silly at 69.

We then headed to the beach for a swim and played in some pretty big and dumping waves. Again failing to act my age I have a few scratches and rash from being dumped into about 6 inches of water.

Back in our little village a market had been set up and one of the stalls was selling fresh oysters. Chris bought a couple of dozen and expertly shucked them.

We bbq’d on the charcoal Weber and had a delicious dinner with some fine wine purchased yesterday.

This motorcycle touring is so tough.
